After you build a website, it’s common to want to understand how people are using it. To answer those questions, various analytics tools are used, the most common of which by far is Google Analytics.
Generally analytics can tell you things like:
-
How many unique visitors (i.e. individual people) your site has had
-
How many times those people visited the site
-
How many, and which, pages they viewed while they were there
-
How long they spent on the site (“dwell time”)
-
How many of them achieved particular goals (e.g. buying a product)
