sitemap

A sitemap is an outlining of all the pages that will eventually make up a website. They’re generally structured in a tree, to reflect the sections, sub-sections, and sub-sub-sections of the site.

A sitemap is part of the UX design process, and is part of what gets called “information architecture”.

Sitemaps are also used once a site is built. Generally automatically generated, they tell search engines all of the pages a site has, so that none are missed out of the search index.
