Similar to debossing, embossing is a print technique whereby heat and pressure are applied to the printed material, causing raised areas that are tactile and can be felt by the end consumer.

Embossing is effectively the opposite of debossing; it applies pressure from below to create a raised area, whereas debossing applies pressure from above to create an indented area.
